About Gita Rasaili Gita Rasaili is a survivor of Nepal’s armed conflict and a strong advocate for justice. She was born into a Dalit community in rural Nepal, where poverty, caste discrimination, and gender inequality shaped everyday life. Her village had limited access to basic services and was deeply affected by patriarchy and social exclusion. During the conflict (1996–2006), Gita’s family suffered deeply as her sister was tortured and killed. But instead of giving up, Gita chose to speak out. She became a writer, mentor, and leader, using her voice to support others who had faced similar pain. Gita never asked to lead, but her natural leadership ability is recognised her roles and accepts as opportunities for solidarity. Today, she is the Chairperson of the Conflict Victim Women National Network (CVWN), where she works to make sure women survivors are heard and respected. She believes that healing and change come from facing the past together. As she says: “My past, which I share with so many others, never passes. The only way to the future is through the past.”

About Sital Singh Rathor Ms. Shital Singh Rathore, whose husband was killed by Maoists during Nepal`s armed conflict in 2005, advocates for conflict-affected women's rights to justice and reparations. As a peacebuilder and social worker, she unites and empowers conflict-victim women, drawing on years of active engagement to support their cause.

About Sushila Chaudhary Ms. Sushila Chaudhary, who faced the killing, disappearance, and torture of her family during Nepal's armed conflict, became a dedicated advocate for conflict victims and marginalized communities. As a peacebuilder, she leads efforts to strengthen conflict victim women networks, promote transitional justice, and ensure the effective implementation of National Action Plan Phase II for justice and reparations.

About Sabitri Khadka Ms. Sabitri, whose father was tortured and killed by Maoists in 2005, became a staunch advocate for conflict victims and women's rights. As Chairperson of Sankalpa in Gandaki Province, she champions women's leadership and transitional justice. With extensive work in Nepal's political transition and civil society, she promotes truth, justice, reparations, and non-recurrence for victims, contributing to the implementation of National Action Plan Phase II.

About Chandrakala Uprety Chandrakala Upreti`s husband was forcibly disappeared by the Nepal Army in 2003 during the armed conflict. Her painful search for truth inspired her to advocate for justice and support other conflict victims. As a peacebuilder and justice reporter, she has documented over 150 case stories and continues to lead efforts for transitional justice and the effective implementation of National Action Plan Phase II.

About Nagma Mali Nagma Mali, whose father forcibly disappeared during Nepal`s armed conflict, is a visual storyteller and advocate for human rights, peacebuilding, feminism, and LGBTQIA+ rights. Leading "She is the Story" initiative at Voices of Women in Media, she uses her storytelling and visual documentation skills to amplify conflict survivors voices, preserve their stories and promote gender equality and transitional justice.

About Ramila Joshi Ms. Ramila Joshi, whose husband was killed by Maoists in 2002 during Nepal`s armed conflict, transformed her pain into a mission for justice. As a peacebuilder, she advocates for addressing conflict- affected women's needs, punishing perpetrators, and ensuring reparations. Her work emphasizes peacebuilding as a gradual process toward lasting justice for survivors and their families.
